Dr Asanda Sibango
Dr Sibango obtained her MBChB from Walter Sisulu University in 2007. Her special interests are primary healthcare and chronic illness management. She is a Grade 2 Medical Officer in private practice and also a sessional doctor at a public hospital.
Dr Brian Seakamela
Dr Seakamela graduated from the University of Limpopo. He has a special interest in affordable primary healthcare. He runs a private GP practice in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo. He is one of Healthforce’s founding doctors.
Dr Chuene Maponya
Dr Maponya graduated with an MBChB from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2014 and currently works in an accident and emergency department at ER Consulting Inc. She and her husband are raising two boys and are based in Pretoria.
Dr Dale Africa
Dr Africa graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2015. He completed his internship at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital and community service training in Lenasia South CHC. He has completed a male circumcision course with CHAPS.
Dr Debbie Rabinowitz
Dr Rabinowitz graduated in 2000. She spent four years in the UK working in Paediatrics before opening a health centre in Cape Town. She has diplomas in Child Health and Practitioner Coaching. Her special interests are paediatrics and family medicine.
Dr Fortunate Nonhlanhla Mavuya
Dr Mavuya obtained her MBChB in 2012 from the University of Pretoria through a Cuba-UP training programme. She works as a medical officer in emergency medicine. She is based in Gauteng with her husband and daughter.
Dr Gerhard van Niekerk
Dr Van Niekerk graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1988. He has practised around the world in general medicine, anaesthetics, emergency medicine, and family medicine. His special interests are men’s health, psychiatry and asthma.
Dr JC Venter
Dr Venter graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 1989 and works as a GP in Sedgefield. He also administers anaesthesia, does Workers Compensation duties and works at a drug rehab centre. He has Master’s degrees in Family Medicine and Pain Control.
Dr Jeanne Aspeling
Dr Aspeling graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2011. She has been treating patients in private practice since 2015. She has a special interest in women’s health. She lives in Cape Town with her husband and son.
Dr Kagisho Seakamela

Dr Kruger obtained her MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2014 and currently works as a GP in Cape Town. Her special interests are in diabetes (having earned a CDE network accreditation), paediatrics, dermatology, family medicine and functional medicine.
Dr Mpilo Zimu
Dr Zimu completed his degree at the University of Pretoria in 2013, then returned to his home in KwaZulu-Natal to serve the rural community. His passion lies in obstetrics and gynaecology, and he believes that primary healthcare is his calling.
Dr Nomacete Tshume
Dr Tshume graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2011. She works in private practice and does escalations for ER24, ER locums, and conducts air ambulance transfers and commercial escorts. She is passionate about women's health and paediatrics.
Dr Precious Nonhlanhla Mpanza
Dr Mpanza graduated from the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2013. She works as a GP in Hillcrest, Durban. Her special interests are in primary healthcare, women’s health and advocating against child sexual abuse.
Dr Samukelisiwe Nyamathe
Dr Nyamathe graduated from UCT in 2015. In 2018, she started an MSc in Child Health and Community Paediatrics. Her special interest is sexual and reproductive healthcare for adolescent girls and women. She is a GP in Cape Town.
Dr Schalk Burger
Dr Burger graduated in 1995 and has worked in private practice since 2000. His special interests are in rural medicine and providing medical care for people without access to adequate healthcare in Africa. He is married with two children.
Dr Stefan Nel
Dr Nel received his medical degree from the University of Pretoria in 2009 and works as a GP in Cape Town, mainly in the emergency department. His special interests are emergency medicine, anaesthetics and intensive care.
Dr Thandeka Ngcongo
Dr Thandeka Ngcongo graduated from the University of Cape Town and works as a GP based in Mpumalanga. Her special interests are in women’s health and paediatrics. She is married with one daughter.
Dr Tsholofelo Makokwe
Dr Makokwe graduated from the then Medical University of Southern Africa in 1999. Her special interests are in mental health, and in the role of nutrition in health and wellbeing. She is a GP primarily based in Rustenburg, but also works in Gauteng.
Dr Willem Kleynhans
Dr Kleynhans graduated with an MBChB in 2002. He has worked in Europe, Malaysia and other parts of the world. He completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. His special interests are in wellness and executive health.

Dr Wessels obtained his MBChB from MEDUNSA in 2007 and has since been working in rural hospitals, clinics, emergency centres and private practices. His interests include primary healthcare and orthopaedics, and he has a deep passion for rural medicine.
